She went back to the car, slammed the door quite hard and disappeared in a cloud of dust.

The large woman observed the car for a few long moments, ripped the card into shreds and tossed into the basket. Then she turned towards the cart.

“Okay, you can come out now!” she said. “Those assholes are gone.”

20 THE JESSOPS

We hesitated. Although the woman did not give us away, I wasn’t sure if I should allow Snotty to come out. The White Suit woman only mentioned me, not her. Snotty was still an undetected fugitive. But it would not have been possible. Snotty was hungry and I would not leave her behind the cart.
