The blood moons of 1967–1968

Rabbi ben Samuel’s “final” jubilee period began in 1917 and ended in 1967. So what happened on June 5, 1967? The Six-Day War, between Israel and the surrounding Arab nations, started. As fighting forces go, the Israelis were outmatched: they had 275,000 troops compared with the Arabs’ 456,000; they had half as many tanks as the Arabs and one-quarter the number of aircraft.24

The Arab nations’ goal was to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. So they surrounded the tiny nation with almost half a million troops and over two thousand tanks. In parts of the Sinai and the Gaza Strip, the Egyptians alone had hundreds of artillery pieces.25 But by a miracle of God and according to the prophecies, Israel prevailed and all of Jerusalem was retaken. The no-man’s-land was no more. The times of the Gentiles were fulfilled, as Luke’s Gospel promised:

They will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars.
