There is a multitude of general and specific factors determining the nature of post-communist nationalism and an attempt will be made here to identify just some of them. Eight specific groups of causes of post-communist nationalism, often mentioned in the relevant literature, may be distinguished:
the effect of âunfreezingâ after the collapse of the artificial stability, imposed by communism
the existence of the perceptions of âethnic guiltâ for imposing communism
