The masseuse, a thickly built blonde man named Gil, worked on her shoulders and back, gently kneading her taunt muscles. Julia felt some of the tension that seemed to be with her constantly these days slip away.
She already felt more pampered and calm than she had in years after spending a few hours in this relaxing environment. She puttered around to the different rooms of the spa in her puffy, white bathrobe and slippers that they provided, received her facial, luxury mani-pedi and now a soothing Swedish massage.
The spa ladies fed her herbal tea, fresh oatmeal cookies, bottled water and a protein bar at different junctures of her time there and chatted with her about her kids, her husband and, after some coaxing, Tyler. This environment, much like a hair salon, lent itself to talking about womanly secrets. She felt compelled to tell the story of the gorgeous young man who had made this whole day possible for her.
Now, with the quiet music floating around her and the sensual feeling of Gil's strong, warm hands moving over her whole body, Julia closed her eyes and let herself think about Tyler. Her mind drifted to the moment she'd seen him peek around the balloons and she felt a flutter in her stomach. Then, to keep the feeling going, she thought back to when he had embraced her in the kitchen. Now the rest of her body started responding to the thought of Tyler and, she noticed, to Gil's insistent fingers.
Even though her eyes were closed, she could tell that he was standing directly in front of her head and shoulders, leaning into the table and sliding his hands up and down the middle of her back. Keeping one hand on her at all times, he moved to her side, slipping his hand down her body, past her waist, then moving the light sheet that covered her rump to expose even more of her lower back.
For an instant Julia allowed herself to think about Gil moving the sheet all of the way off of her and slipping his hand and persistent fingers between her legs. She felt her body respond to just the thought of this and wondered briefly what she would do if he actually did it. She smiled for a second because she knew the answerâshe would flip out.
She must have chuckled at the thought because Gil asked her, "Does that tickle?"
"No," she answered, "it's fine."
Gil continued with the Swedish massage as Julia composed herself and decided not to think about any man while she was in this state of undress.
