“What I’ve wanted all along / you placed within the palm of my hand.”

She can reach out, hands outstretched; their fingers touch for a second. She can feel the silk fabric under her thumbs, colored a light blue which reminded her of the blue mother and her heavenly waters filling her with the lust for freedom amongst the waves. Extend your arms further and you can feel the coldness of that translucent cage, sniff as hard as you can and you can get only the faintest taste of the ocean’s salt. Tears welled into the eyes of all within earshot, those who know nothing about what it means to be a slave– to be a possession disposed of when it no longer serves its purpose.
