General Skorzney himself was supervising the search warrant. He liked to do things properly and digging up graves in the garden of a serving fleet admiral was something that needed to be done right. He held a handkerchief over his face as commandos of the 7th Imperial Guard division (9th Regiment) opened each of the graves and began documenting the scene. The master of covert actions had planned the dig and recovery perfectly.

“General…” A Guardsmen handed him the skull of a female synthetic from grave number three. (Later to be identified as victim number four.)

“What could possess a man to such acts?” He asked rhetorically, looking into the long vacant eyes of the young woman’s skull.

He placed the skull into the box and motioned for the team to hurry up. He did not want anyone knowing that they had been here, and things were taking too long.

“Only three?” The priest asked, seeming to have appeared from nowhere.

“I do not enjoy it when you do that.” General Skorzney gruffly replied. “Yes, only three.”

The priest nodded and offered the general a cigarette, he held up his hand and declined. “Not here, the smell.”

“As you wish.” The priest put the cigarettes away and watched as half a femur was removed from grave two. “I believe I know where our missing friend is.” The priest said assuredly.

“Do you? And how would you come upon that information?”

“I have my sources. Here.” He held out an old copy of a closed military record of a pilot in the Imperial Navy.

General Skorzney glared at the priest, then flipped through the file, not knowing exactly what he was looking for. He paused when he found a page for the pilot being admitted into the Imperial Navy’s flight training program. It was signed by Admiral Merman, and it was dated one day after the death of one of their victims. (Number five.) “That is worth looking into.”

“I thought you might agree.” The priest smiled winningly.

“If this is what we both believe it is…?”

The priest nodded and smiled. “Emnikhan.” He said it out loud.
