In this way, you will initiate, collectively create and then evaluate together before moving on to the next session.

More things to consider before you start:

Be the leader: you are leading both the business and the workshop. Do not shy away from ensuring that the workshop runs in the direction you want it to. You need to accept the ability to be challenged but, if you have a purpose vision for the business, your job as leader is to lead the others on to that path. However that clarity of purpose may be shaped, whatever language may evolve from the process, you still set the course for the day. It is pointless if you spend the day debating with someone that the purpose of the business is to make money.

Consider external facilitation: although it is perfectly possible and appropriate to have a well-run workshop and facilitate it yourself, if resources and contacts allow, you may choose to bring in either an external facilitator or find a trusted individual with the right skill-set internally to undertake the role. The role of facilitator on the day is to be responsible for leading the progress of the workshop, being concerned about timings, being a fair voice for all present and other aspects of making things run smoothly. Ultimately, the role is to make sure that participants are focused and productive. You may find it hard to do that role, as well as participate fully or be not simply “the boss”.
