Reflections can have a dramatic effect on how you might want to compose an image. When photographed under very different lighting and wind conditions, the reflections in this waterway vary substantially in shape and intensity. Under a clear sky and calm water, the reflection of the stack and cloud add interest to the water and sky in the first image. Because the reflections in the second image are muted under an overcast sky, the horizontal lines of the dock and the industrial facility are the more dominant compositional element.
