THE SET-UP

The Extravaganza is a kickass party with a flash mob twist (inspired by our friends, Mattimeo and Ace Frehley, from UC Davis).

Two keys to the Leprechaun Extravaganza are picking the right leprechaun (make sure he is good on rollerblades) and having a great racecourse picked out (a college campus is ideal). After the games have been played and pole positions are determined, the leprechaun should get a few minutes head start. The host then releases the teams according to where they placed in the drinking games. Imagine a stampede of green clad maniacs chasing down a leprechaun like a hunt on the Serengeti. The team to catch him wins the Pot O'Goldschlager trophy!

The Games

Separate partygoers into coed teams of four for a series of drinking games. Scoring: three points for a first place finish, two points for second, and one point for third.

Car Bomb Beer Pong: This is the Irish version of Battleship beer pong. Set up a four by four square of beer pong cups. Each team hides four Irish car bombs in the sixteen-cup grid. The first team to get all the car bombs (not all the cups) wins the match. Organize a two-table bracket and keep the games moving quickly.

Corn-hole Tournament: Corn-hole is a lawn game where players toss beanbags onto a plywood platform that has a hole in the center. Visit its Wikipedia page for the official rules, scoring, and to learn how to build your own set of corn-hole platforms.

Survivor Flip Cup: Have two teams line up on opposite sides of the table. Use red plastic cups, and fill them up about a quarter of the way. Start with the ends, and have opposing players “cheers” each other, tap their cup to the table, then chug. After the beer is done, the player must flip his cup from upright position to upside down position. Once he lands this flip, the next man on the line can start chugging. So forth and so on. Now for the “Survivor” part. After each round, a player gets voted off of the team from the opposing team. Best players are usually voted off first.

Line the teams up in the order of beer games rank. Let the first team loose with a minute head-start and then release teams every thirty seconds in the order they finished. Make sure to text the leprechaun a warning Paul Revere style, “The English Drinkers are coming!”
