Dawn was starting to creep over the horizon before they managed to wake Rory, who was even less cheerful than Lance about being so rudely awoken. It took all five of them to convince him to allow them to use the communications tower to contact the Alamo, and even then he wasn’t all too happy about it.

The message was short and to the point. They would have to wait at least fourteen minutes for a reply.

“We have to do something,” Taz bellowed. “We can’t just sit around and wait for the Alamo to send backup. We’re stuck here for another two weeks with those things out there.”

“Pipe down Private. I’m thinking,” Sergeant Lance ordered him.

“Judging by the number of missing cattle that have been reported, I think it’s safe to assume that we’re dealing with a lot more of them than those we saw, Sergeant,” Dimitrov offered.
