Now if they only knew who was giving the message and to whom.

The Wanderer

Within hours of the victory the Wheeling Orb had sent massive amounts of secure data in a priority report to both the Arach Military Command and because of the nature of the victory to the Cosmological Church of the Venerated Perception. Salinea and its moon were safe but questions were remained including what happened at the edge of the system.

Arach spies had reported the Chactoid Command's utter confusion at finding their much-vaunted armada drifting aimlessly in space. Their intel had reported the Arach had new ally that had turned the tide of the battle. They definitely needed the new ally now, despite their reservations.

The tactical and theological opportunity gleaned from the Wheeling Orb report was not lost on the military and the church. It caused two responses: the military sent the 17thfleet and the church sent the senior Inquisitor Elder Trapd and his acolytes with them.

They arrived in orbit two days after the Chactid Commonwealth fleet were defeated and swept away by whatever that was. The reappearance of the glowing and very imposing Rings had begun a response by the church several Tabernacleum in the making.

Moreover, tradition dictated when a vessel was lost into the Invisible that all translating was paused, while an investigation was carried out. An investigation carried out solely by the church. The Golden Silk was lost, but the Wheeling Orb was victorious.

The vessel had barely survived but following the encounter they reported no damage, the Wheeling Orb had been remade brand new. Although many of her crew had been left traumatised by the loss of the Golden Silk. Even if they were permitted, the celebrants would have been unable to initiate the unity needed to translate.

A meeting was in progress on the frigate. The churchnid and their imposing attendants gathered in the Ecclesia, it had been a shambles, upturned seating and ceremonial lavers scattered across the sanctuary.

"Hmm," the Elder observed. "Not everything was restored." One corner though had been cleared away and with the interior lighting flickering, the meeting had begun.

The Wheeling Orb’s Wanderer had begun a joyous opening refrain to welcome the Elder but was quickly halted by several of the attendants who claimed the Ecclesia was too damaged for anything so exuberant.

"We are all but broken pieces of a good whole," the Wanderer responded to the attendants. They were not amused and loudly proclaimed a sacred invocation of the mystical, a deep base thrum, a somewhat monophonic but solemn melody.

Celebrants who had earlier sung a song of unity into the battle and had seen the miracle of Salinea stood aside as the powerful churchnid addressed the meeting.

"Fascinating Wanderer but irrelevant, we have encountered the Rings once again and this time your kind will tell us its secrets."

The dirge turned the mood and the seriousness of the business at hand became apparent. The Rings had shown themselves once more and had again displayed immense power. But despite the benefit to the Arach, the Church were openly hostile to its motive.
