Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art

Modern One features works from French and Russian art from the beginning of the 20th century, cubist paintings and expressionist and modern British art – highlights include paintings by Matisse and Picasso. The Gallery also houses a remarkable collection of art produced since World War II, as well as a superb collection of modern Scottish art. Art by Francis Bacon, David Hockney and Andy Warhol sit alongside more recent works by Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.

Occupying a fine Victorian mansion, Modern Two ¡ [map] is home to a changing programme of exhibitions and displays drawn from the permanent collection. On permanent display is a fascinating recreation of Eduard Paolozzi’s studio, as well as his huge sculpture, Vulcan, that dominates the café.
