Newbridge House and Traditional Farm

Newbridge House r [map] (Apr–Sept daily 9am–5pm; Oct–Mar Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun 10am–4pm; www.newbridgehouseandfarm.com) and its estate of some 142 hectares (350 acres) at Donabate, County Dublin, belonged to the Cobbe family from 1736. The beautifully restored house contains some interesting furniture and plasterwork, and there is also a courtyard incorporating several artisans’ cottages with period furniture and tools, a forge, stables, and a working farm with cows, draught horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, hens, and ducks.

Winter lottery

The overwhelming demand to see Newgrange during the winter solstice has forced Irish Heritage to hold a lottery. Visitors can sign up in the welcome centre. Or you can email your postal address and contact phone number to [email protected] and they’ll enter your name. From an average 35,000 entries, fifty names are chosen.
