Biochemistry. That was the chemistry Des should be focusing on, but he’d frankly lost all interest in McKenna’s class work in favor of drowning in her expressive gaze. Her eyes held a whole world inside them and he couldn’t stop drinking it in.

The draw between him and his wife was a whole other kind of chemistry, the kind he’d like to learn about because he had the distinct feeling there’d be a lot to absorb.

“My homework will be there later,” McKenna informed him throatily. The slight rasp in her voice hooked him instantly. It meant she was as affected by his nearness as he was hers.

The desk had been an altruistic gift, solely designed to get her started on her degree. He hadn’t considered that it would become a method of seduction. But the object of his affection sat within arm’s length in the chair he’d selected for her. His leg had been in firm contact with her hand for the better part of five minutes but she hadn’t rolled away.

“When is your first lesson due?” he asked. The last thing he wanted to do was distract her when she’d just started what looked to be a difficult class given how backward the instructor planned to teach something as straightforward as chemical reactions.

“I don’t know.” She didn’t take her gaze from his and he couldn’t look away, not when she had so many interesting nonverbal things she was saying. “But it’s not right this minute. We have plenty of time to worry about that later.”

College classes had definitely shifted his advantage and he was nothing if not prepared to press it.

Awareness saturated the atmosphere. So maybe she was looking for a distraction. One that had a much more explosive reaction than those detailed on her screen.

“McKenna,” he murmured, and her face tipped up to the perfect angle for him to take her mouth with his, which he planned to do as soon as he was clear on whether he’d been reading her signals correctly.

Once he kissed her, he didn’t plan to stop. Therefore, it would be prudent to make sure that’s what she wanted.

“Desmond,” she murmured back.

The way she caressed his name with her raspy voice settled low in his gut, flaring out with sensual heat that would take little to stoke higher. The virtual chat had gotten him good and primed already, especially with all the talk of magic buttons.

He should have installed a chat tool weeks ago. Who knew that would be the mechanism to get his wife to flirt with him?

But virtual chatting only went so far. Being in her presence heightened the reactions her sexy talk had started and he craved the experience of connecting with her in the flesh. There was so much to discover between them, nuances of emotion and heights of pleasure to catalog. He couldn’t wait to start exploring.

“I’m going to kiss you,” he informed her. “If that’s not what you want, you should tell me to leave. Immediately.”

Her dark eyes speared him to the core, blazing with unmistakable heat.
