¾ measure rye whiskey

¼ measure sweet vermouth

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass over ice and stir to chill. Then pour into a cocktail glass and decorate with a cherry. Serve with or without ice. “A dry Manhattan is made with dry vermouth. A perfect Manhattan has both the sweet and dry vermouth.”

ARNAUD’S MANHATTAN

Arnaud’s is one of the best elite restaurants in New Orleans, assessed by reputation, menu, and length of operation. Established by Count Arnaud Cazenave in 1918, Arnaud’s features Creole cuisine. Arnaud’s bar, which is named for another classic cocktail, the French 75, features a bust of Sir Winston Churchill and is also known for other local cocktails: the Sazerac, Milk Punch, and Ramos Gin Fizz.13
