“I want my sister.” My broken voice echoes around the hallway. “Please. Let me see her!” As I reach for my inhaler again, I feel strong arms come around me from behind and turn into the embrace of my other sister.

“Breathe Emma, for God’s sake. Calm down. You’re making yourself ill.”

I sob into her shoulder, pretending all the time that she’s really Caitlyn. I’m never going to get over this.

Chapter 13

Mari

Despite all that’s going on, I’m starving. Some people lose their appetite when confronted with a stressful situation but I’m definitely one of the comfort eater brigade. I didn’t get any breakfast, apart from a slice of toast, and I’ve never gone this long without something proper to eat. Some might say I could do with skipping a meal. Or four. Jen certainly insinuated this when she allocated me the aisle seat with a smirk on the plane yesterday.

I glance down at my size eighteen frame as I wait for the questions to start. They’ve read me my rights and I’ve refused a solicitor. Why would I need a solicitor? My money’s on Jen or Shelley for this, or possibly Annette, but who would kill their own sister?
