General Overview

In the next section, we discuss the performance of the main figures of the Chilean trade. Figure 5.4 showed the exports as a percentage of real GDP, for the period under study, as an indicator of the opening rate of the Chilean economy. The general trend shows an increasing pattern during the late nineteenth century as an indicator of the integration of the Chilean economy into the international markets.
