In the following days, I truly revel in the comfort of the bunker. The one thing that bothers me is the open door. Again and again, it forces me to dig in my memory for everything that remains there of the moments of my departure: I’m stepping outside of the bunker – I do remember that. My backpack is propped up against the mountainside. I toss it on my back. But then what? Do I turn back and close the door? Or does this action only take place in my thoughts and in fact I’m on my way down?

It seems almost impossible to me that I would forget to shut the door, but I can’t rule it out. Yesterday I searched around for signs of a helicopter landing. I can’t imagine that they flew in, looked inside and flew away again. But I don’t understand why they would settle for my absence so easily. Surely in that case they would fly in again.

Or was it just Denis who came here, but didn’t spend the night? Would he really miss out on the opportunity to surprise me on my return?

Then another possibility comes to mind: some other Indian. After all, Fabian doesn’t have to be the only one roaming about in these mountains.
