By framing financial profit as part of the three-pronged need of Energy, the human factor and technological considerations all hold equal weight as elements that can propel an organization or team into growth. In this way, money is not a need unto itself but instead is in service to the energy an organization requires as a living system.

An important clarifying point about corporations, both for profit and nonprofit: their boards of directors have a fiduciary duty to support reasonable financial profit, not necessarily maximum financial profit. The idea of Energy as an organizational need allows for other forms of profit beyond the financial. For example, emotional profit and connection with the customer and employees, increased social value and social profit in terms of how a company is viewed through the lens of ethical capitalism, and so on.
