Benches can be surprising platforms for kids usually told to keep their feet on the ground. Ask one sibling to whisper something silly in the other’s ear and capture their playful whispering, as well as the resulting big smile. For a third capture, ask the brother and sister to gently hug each other. If it’s safe, jumping off of the bench might make for a fun final image.

tip For more interesting, unexpected portraits, let kids stand or sit on benches or low ledges when safe, always with a spotter nearby.
