With a fairly flat horizon to the east, I knew I wouldn’t have to wait too long before the light struck this fisherman, still wrapped in warm sunrise colors. Photographed with my 180mm F2.8 lens at f/4 for 1/250 sec. using ISO 100.

I had to wait for the pink light to turn more golden as it crept down the Sierra Nevada Range to light this tufa tower along the southern shores of Mono Lake. It was not the moment I wanted, but it was the only way to document this cold February morning. Using my 50mm F1.8 lens, I exposed the landscape at f/22 for 1/8 sec. using ISO 50.
