Maeve released her legs with difficulty from the mud and the rubble and stretched for the first time that millennium. My god, she was stiff. And the suit of armour she was buried in wasn’t exactly helping matters. She yawned, looked out towards her enemies in Ulster, and saluted them.

“I’m back,” she said, before releasing her legs fully and beginning her march towards the entrance of The Great Highway, which would bring her to her ultimate destination of Tara.

Back at The Faery Fort near Cordarragh, Queen Dana hopped out of bed for the first time in months. Her Faeries in Waiting stared at her in astonishment. The most senior among them approached the queen.

“Your highness. What are you doing? You should not be out of bed.” It wasn’t her custom to question Dana, but she was taken off guard.

The Queen glared at her.

“I will get up when I want to get up.”

“But your Majesty. You are not well.”

“I am quite well, thank you. Never better. Now help me dress.”

“You’re getting dressed?! But …”

“For heaven’s sake, woman, get a move on. I must get to The Hill of Tara. Pronto.”
