It was now a little past thirteen hours into the estimated forty-eight-hour flight of the Elixir to the Lunar Research Station's spaceport.

Angela and Doug were deep in conversation about the design of the Elixir.

Doug had been assigned a seat in the three-seat section closest to the right side of the main entry door. Doug was on the same side of the Elixir as Angela. She was now tethered to one of the two unused seats. Floating down the aisle in her bright orange spacesuit, Lakeisha Fletcher approached Doug and Angela.

“Excuse me. Is this the seat for MP Horner?” asked Lakeisha.

“No. MP seats are the three seats to the left of the entrance door. But this seat right here is unassigned,” Doug pointed over to the unused seat, two seats from his own. “I believe MP Horner is on the other side of the main deck in these same three seats.”

“OK. He is currently sitting in my seat on the crew deck. He's meeting captain and crew,” Lakeisha said with a smile.

“I’m Lakeisha Fletcher, SSe pilot, third class. MP Horner said I could sit in his seat until he returns from his visit. I am currently in a rest period. Is it OK if I tether in this unassigned seat?” she asked them. She was hoping not to have to exert the energy in walking another fifteen steps.

“Of course, Pilot Fletcher! Pleased to speak to you again,” said both Angela and Doug.

“Since you mentioned your rest period, we will try not to disturb you with our chatter,” said Doug.

“Before you close your eyes, what is your specialty, Pilot Fletcher?” asked Angela.

“I specialize in communications. My title is SSe pilot, third class, specializing in encryption and linguistics. Terrene,” Lakeisha added with a tired smile.

“My duties include linguistics, programming, and encryption and decryption. I scan the cosmos for communications not from our solar system. My specialty's historic beginning was the SETI program centuries ago. It is the same thing now, but it has evolved. The company's focus is on espionage detection,” said Lakeisha. Angela and Doug were listening silently.

“Companies have been known to use preunification era languages instead of modern-day Terrene to avoid getting detected by encryption detection systems when they want a layer of privacy. The Global MP hasn’t made it a violation yet, as knowing PE languages remains a valuable historical tool.

“The program used to focus on extraterrestrial detection and communication! We know of no extraterrestrials, so…” said Lakeisha quietly.

Lakeisha stopped talking and looked up at both their faces.

“I’m a bit tired. I get chatty when I’m tired. I’m sorry,” she said.

“No. We will go look for other seats to tether onto and leave you to relax here,” said Doug. They floated over to the following six seats, where another two seats were available and continued their conversation.
