Vocation First Eclipse IPA,Cooper’s Brewery Australian IPA

Eclipse is the newest New World hop from Hop Products Australia (HPA). Development began in 2004 at the hop-breeding program at HPA through several rounds of cross-pollination with primo varieties such as Fuggle, Brewer’s Gold, Comet, and Pride of Ringwood, one of Australia’s first high-alpha varieties from the 1950s. HPA took their time bringing Eclipse to market with field trials dating back to 2006, brewing trials dating back to 2010, and the intervening releases of superstars Vic Secret and Galaxy along the way. Finally in 2021, the unexpected sweet mandarin and orange character that radiates from this fruit-forward hop was perfected, consistent, and too juicy not to≈release to brewers seeking the full spectrum of Australian hop character.

Eclipse is bursting with sweet mandarin, zesty citrus peel, and fresh pine needle that immerses itself into beer styles from Witbiers, Saisons, and Pilsners to Pale Ales, IPAs, and NEIPAs with an unmistakable fruity character. Brewers quickly recognized the flavor impact of Eclipse both in the kettle and dry-hopping, even in small amounts, so much so that HPA preemptively planned—even before the worldwide release—to sustainably scale up production to make Eclipse its number-three hop behind Galaxy and Vic Secret by 2024.
