When I’ve paced a trail in the carpet so deep, I can see the fibers underneath, I huff out a breath and head out onto the balcony for some air. That kiss had been unplanned, and started out as a show for the crowd. But it quickly morphed into something else. Something more.

The second Charlie’s lips parted beneath mine, I lost all my good sense. I forgot where we were, the crowd, and the fact that we’re supposed to be pretending. I fucking kissed her like I wanted to, and fuck, did she taste divine.

Her soft lips quivered under the onslaught, and when her tongue tentatively brushed against mine, a growl worked its way up my throat and spilled into her. Thank fuck I came back to my senses and broke off the kiss before I did something stupid like grope her ass with one hand while the other slid up beneath her skirt in front of God and everybody in that bar.

I’m still brimming with need, and thinking about it isn’t making my cock lay down and behave like I need it to. Charlie locked herself in the bedroom the minute we got back, and I haven’t heard a peep from her since.

I don’t know what it means. Is she angry? Embarrassed?

Or is she dying inside, wanting more the same way I am right now?

I really want to kick that fucking door in and find out, but I can’t. I know I have to tread lightly with her. She’s been hurt. Manipulated and, from what I can tell, most likely emotionally and verbally abused by her ex-husband.

My fingers tighten on the railing until my knuckles turn white. Just thinking about how self-conscious and timid she can be when I’ve seen the spunky, cocky side of her makes me want to commit murder. I’ve only known Charlie for a couple of days, and already I can see her beautiful soul. I know she deserves better than whatever he gave her.

And I want to be the one to show her just how wonderful and deserving she is.

Fuck, it’s the least I can do after she agreed to this outlandish suggestion and moved in here with me, pretending to be in a relationship with a complete stranger. I nod my head once, a firm resolution taking hold. I’m going to prove to her how awesome she is before this vacation is over. When I’m done with her, she’ll never settle again.

But I can’t kid myself into thinking my motives are completely altruistic. I want her to like me as much as I like her. I want her to want me like I want her.

And I want to make her come so many times, she forgets her own name. I want to feel her body beneath mine, her inner walls squeezing me until I lose my mind with need.

I know it would be good. That one simple kiss had me panting like a coon dog in heat. And my dick is throbbing again, just thinking about it.
