CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

By pure instinct and without knowing if it would work, I ended up teleporting us from René’s room to the front of Gömul Kona’s hut. When we arrived, I collapsed. René, as weak as I had been when entering his room, also fell to his knees, disoriented. Shortly afterwards, Björg and Gömul Kona appeared to help us.

“Where am I… And who are you?” René asked, a bit dizzy.

“All in good time, sir,” Björg responded. “First, I need to help Théo. If you can stand, you can help me too. And before you ask, we’re not your enemies.”

René managed to get up and started looking around, unable to believe his surroundings.

“Get into the hut before you suffer from hypothermia,” Björg urged René as she helped me to my feet.

“René, I’m sorry for what I did, but it was necessary. We can discuss it more inside the hut,” I explained.

“You kidnapped me, Théo! What do you think you’re doing?” René exclaimed.

“There’s a lot at stake and I had to act. Please, let's go inside the hut.”

“I’m getting out of here,” René began to say, but was abruptly interrupted when Gömul Kona struck his head with her cane, causing him to instantly pass out in the cold snow.

“He would not have cooperated,” Gömul Kona stated calmly. “Don’t worry, he’ll wake up in about an hour.”
