When the morning comes, I’m already outside of town, back in the clearing, staring up at the sun. I’m not sure what to do, where to go.

Inwardly, I’m frustrated. Not sexually. Well, maybe a little sexually. Olivia had been an exceptional sexual partner, and I would have enjoyed another round with her before leaving, but I had been so furious and upset with her that I didn’t want to when I woke. I didn’t even want to talk to her at all, so I sneaked out of her house.

It’s too large. Her house, I mean. It doesn’t suit her, although that massive bathtub, that I enjoy very much.

She’s a conundrum, Olivia, a puzzle. Her role as mayor is commendable, but why does she want to waste her time trying to deal with people who clearly can’t be saved? If they want to waste their lives arguing and fighting, they should be free to kill each other. There shouldn’t have to be a peacemaker.

But if I leave, she wins in a sense, and I don’t get what I want. Chrix landed me here at random, but it’s the first place I’ve come to on Earth, and I still want to see all of Green Springs. It’s very quiet this morning, almost too quiet. It’s as if the townsfolk know they crossed a line and are staying inside their homes. I didn’t see one soul as I left, not even by the area near the broken spaceship where the children had been playing yesterday.

I grit my teeth, let out a low growl, and stalk back toward the town. An enforcer? No, that’s not me. Not at all. I’m a traveler, and if I want to travel and see all of Green Springs, I will. Olivia can’t stop me.

From the moment I step onto a particular street, I notice that the town has woken up. Some strange-looking cars are moving along the roads. They must be from back in the day. They’re nothing like the centuricmobiles, and I’ve heard about centuricars, but I haven’t seen one yet. From what I hear, centuricars are the fastest land vehicle there is. It's rumored to be the safest, too, and capable of handling any terrain. How exactly they improve on a centuricmobile's design, I'm not sure, but it would be fun to ride in one. Perhaps to travel from town to town?

A car comes to a stop beside me, and a man stares up at me. “What are you?”

“I’m a Kurian,” I say dryly. Shouldn’t that be obvious?

“Why are you here?”

I scowl at him. He lifts his middle finger and speeds away.

On and on I walk. People look and stare. Some make comments. Most are terrible and vile, the sort that explains just why Olivia didn't want me around just now, but there are some from women that are far more vulgar in nature. If there were a call for women to volunteer to go to Kuria, I highly suspect that these women would all line up.
