About forty-five minutes later, Nozomi and Treeka strode in the underground lair of Dr. Ash’s lab.

“I don’t understand what happened back there,” Treeka said.

“The mission was to get information from Ioann, and that’s what we did. He even gave us a bonus payment,” Nozomi said as she showed her the flash drive.

“What’s on it?” Treeka asked.

“Untraceable cryptocurrency called Digibit—payment for services rendered,” Nozomi said, smiling.

“Was it necessary to do those things to him? I thought we were just supposed to eliminate him.”

“Eliminating him wasn’t necessary because he was cooperative. The primary objective was to gather the information. He was willing to pay for certain acts that I’m good at,” Nozomi said.

“He could have given you bogus information. What if he tells his boss?”

“I know men, and his information is solid. I can always tell when men are lying. Especially men in vulnerable positions. He won’t risk telling his boss.”

“How does this help my sister?”

“It doesn’t, but it allows us to secure funding that we need to keep this complex operational. And help your sister.”
