Chapter Fifteen

Unwilling to trust Leo, Patrick accompanied them to Cambridge to pitch the use of the observatory to Foxwood. Patrick sat in the corner with his legs crossed as Leopold talked to his headmaster. Eleanor looked over at Patrick as he stared out of a window. She felt like a baby having a bodyguard around, unable to even stay in a room with two unknown men. But she knew he was only doing it to protect her, and he had a point not to trust Leo. He was only a stranger.

The tension had lingered around them. They hardly spoke to each other or stayed in a room longer than five minutes without Miss Cole, or anyone for that matter. Sex was on both of their minds, but so was jealousy and anger. Eleanor didn’t understand why she was jealous of a woman who was half the reason she existed in the first place.

Patrick was still angry at her for pushing him away and toward Sophie. But it clearly meant something to her, he just couldn’t figure out what.

Her still wet body greeting him as he slowly made love to her. Watching her throw her head back from pleasure, biting her lip and repeating his name. It didn’t feel like a dream, more like a memory, a memory he had never lived to feel or touch or see.

He had, for a moment, felt her breast. Patrick couldn’t help but think of the feel of them or what he could do to them. If only he could touch her again. He was tempted to knock on her door every time he passed it. But respected her space. Her eyes had told him no, more than her mouth ever could and he had to honour that, no matter what he felt for her. However, he still couldn’t help wondering if she was thinking of him and their kisses, or was her mind so focused on returning home? He wouldn’t blame her if she left.

The most surprising thing he noticed but didn’t want to worry Eleanor with was that Sophie also remained quiet about their kiss. Possibly not to ruin whatever reputation she had.

A kiss was innocent, but here and now, it could damage a woman’s reputation. Men were scandal-free unless
