Scotch bonnet peppers are quite hot, so you only need a tiny bit of this sauce - a few drops is enough. I add this sauce to my chilli con carne (see page 144) to help get rid of a blocked nose!

Chickpeas contain a lot of fibre, which helps you feel fuller for longer. If you’re trying to lose weight, substitute a pile of cheesy nachos with raw vegetable sticks and homemade hummus - they’re just as tasty! Hummus is also great to eat with a warm pitta as a snack when revising.
