Determined Is Strong

I tell my daughters all the time that the only thing you can control is how hard you work . But determination isn’t mindless. Just like any kind of strength, determination is dynamic. If that wall you’re banging on won’t come down, then look for ways around it, over it, under it. But keep looking. Determination is powered by curiosity and sheer will, and you can see it in the faces of the girls on the following pages.

No matter what happens, no matter how many times they’ve been told no or how many times they’ve failed, they won’t be outworked. It’s the only part of the equation that they get to completely control. They keep moving, they keep talking, they keep their heads in it and focused, and they know good things will happen. Finish lines will be crossed, next levels unlocked, more chapters read. Talent and timing and ability are all great, but I’ll bet on a determined girl to win it. Every day.
