The team sat around the central table on The Bridge looking at a representation of Star from the outside. The Engineer had returned from its solemn duties and had let Star know he had taken detailed scans of the Alien craft and some downloaded data from their main computers for the team to look at later to see if they could work out more about the unknown enemy. He now hovered next to the table and beeped excitedly at what they were about to experience.

"I think it is easier if I just show you." Star said, her lights glittering with excitement. "The way I traverse space quickly is a little different. It takes a huge amount of energy to do it, so I need a significant amount of time between jumps, but I can take us to the mega-structure almost instantaneously. Are you ready?"

Alex stared at the image intensely. "Let's do it! The sooner we are out of here, the better."

"Yes Captain. Initiating jump now." Star said.

All four of the crew members leaned forward almost imperceptibly at the same time. The Engineer span its body around, arms tightened against him. On the screen, the image of star seemed to shorten slightly, and the crew felt a shudder run through them as Star gently extended her tentacles from trailing behind her, up along the length of her body until they met, tip to tip, just in front of the bow.

Blue and white light pulsed down each tentacle faster and faster until the tips of each one began to crackle and glow with energy. The energy grew brighter until a large area glowed in front of them. Just as the light grew almost too bright to look at, Star pulled her tentacles apart, showing a small tear in space and a different star scape on the other side.

"Incredible!" Alex's eyes were wide as he watched the jaw dropping display on the table in front of him.

There were gasps and exclamations from all around the table as Star literally pulled the tear wider and wider until it was large enough for her to move her body through. Metre by metre, she gracefully slipped through the tear, her tentacles gripping the edge and pushing her through into the unknown. As Star cleared the tear, they watched as her tentacles behind her once again danced with the same light, neatly closing the tear until it was dark once again. Star then pulled her tentacles back and coiled them once more.

"We have arrived at the outskirts of our destination system." Star's voice almost purred with pleasure. "It is easier and safer for me to jump to the outer edge of a solar system that I rarely visit. We will arrive at the mega-structure in approximately 2 ship days."

The Engineer whined in disappointment before Star replied. "Yes, I know you want to be there now. You know as well as I do we risk an accident if I jumped further in."

He waved his manipulator arms around wildly as he emitted a high-pitched whirr.
