Chapter 8
Long Live Xman
That night Tygla could not sleep and it was not from the great hunger. She kept replaying that event repeatedly. That laser bolt hitting her father in the chest. It was so unreal to her. She wished that this were some kind of nightmare. Tygla wanted to wake up from it, but sadly, for her, she could not. Mike could not sleep as well. He felt so regretful for her and he wanted to do something to make her feel better, but it did not work.
âLove?â Mike called to her, but she was silent as she had her back turned to him hugging her pillow tightly, âHoney? Iâm sure Fiona is doing everything she can to find who murdered him and why.â
She turned to him a little puzzled and replied softly, âItâs not that Mike, Itâs just, canât believe that, h-heâs gone.â
âI know,â Mike, replied rubbing her shoulder kissing it, âI know how you feel.â
âWhat did you do when your parents died?â She asked looking deep in his eyes.
She found that Mike was troubled. He thought for a long time. He was very young when he saw this parents gunned down by the alien empire.
âWell, I was confused at first,â Mike started, âMy fatherâs close friend Ganu, was trying to hurrying me on the escape ship,â he closed his eyes sighed and continued, âI tried to look back, and then I lost them. I saw them lying on the floor of the space port,â he closed his eyes and paused, âA few days later, when I arrived at the orphanage, Ganu told me that the Empire destroyed the Earth, because they hated us. At that moment, I was enraged. I wanted toâ¦destroy them all by myself,â he closed his eyes as he wished he had, âBut I was only kidding myself at that time.â
Tygla looked up to him and glanced down. She started to understand that the Empire must pay for what they did. They destroyed Mikeâs true home planet, killed his parents, kill her parents and her good friend. She then decided to finish what her father has started.
âYou must have been lonely?â She inquired as she frowned.
âWell, not really,â Mike replied, âThat night when I arrived at the orphanage there was another boy who I met had the same situation as me. I then knew that I would never be alone.â
Tygla smiled a bit. She knew that boy Michael was referring to was Justin. She snuggled with her husband as they both finally fell asleep.
â¦â¦
The next day, the Colonial Council met with Xman and Tygla in the throne room. They saw that the helper had brought in a large square wooden table. Tygla and Mike entered as she stopped at her fatherâs empty chair. She imagined that her father was still sitting at it and frowned. Tygla remembered one time when he let her sit on it when she was very young. She had to be strong as she looked to her bother. They both hugged for a moment then sat down in their parentâs chair.
