My reminder to their nature kept his next comment from coming though I knew what it would be. I waited for him to settle somewhat and I spoke, holding the Sitha’s eyes firm. “Yes, I was. She had no more evil to cleanse from the world. She knew I was the only one she could trust from observing me, and us on the whole. She wanted her son to live. I didn’t know what I was doing.”

“Was she in pain?”

I swallowed, remembering back to those moments.

“Yes,” I said. “She was. She thought I was a master with kenosi. I wasn’t. I didn’t know what I was doing. I almost couldn’t take it, all of it from her.”

The Sitha before us visibly vanished. No longer were his swirls around us in the shuttle.
