In Security, Severski watched the monitor that showed the entry queue. He caught Will’s name and avatar when the boy entered, but also saw the code indicating he was under stricter-than-normal surveillance.

Little Kimmy’s trouble. Gonna be hard to mess with him with the extra surveillance. Your time will come, punk.

“Anything in particular you’re looking at, Severski?”

The voice startled him and he jumped.

“No,” he told Hodgins, trying to smooth over his obvious unease. “Just trying to get a feel for what kind of day we’re going to have at SPARK.”

The head of Security moved closer to him and stood looking at the monitors surrounding the area. Hodgins turned slowly to face him and leaned closer, his voice a harsh whisper.

“Jesus, Tony, I could smell you as soon as I turned the corner. Did you bathe in Tequila?”

“You’re just smelling my mouthwash.” Why is it that big guys like Hodgins always try to intimidate people by getting in their face?

Hodgins snorted. “Like I can’t tell the difference.” His tone softened. “Look, man, you’re already on thin ice with the boss. Stay away from him today. Join AA. For your own sake, do something.” He turned and walked away.

If it wasn’t for jerks like him, I wouldn’t need to drink.

He glared at Hodgins’s back. You’ll get your due. You and your puppet master.
