•if you can afford it, go to a Pilates or Alexander Technique class. If you cannot afford it, look for videos on Pilates and the Alexander Technique on Google
•adjust your car seat so that you sit straight, head against the headrest, with a small cushion behind your lumbar spine (lower back) if required.
•if you work at a desk, find a surface of the right height and work at your keyboard standing up. Find a little box to put one foot on and change from leg to leg. The motto is ‘down with chairs, up with standing’
•find a set of stretching exercises from a teacher or the web that suits you and do them for at least five minutes every day. The starfish is particularly good:
» lie flat on your back on the floor
» stretch your arms out sideways, elbows on the carpet
» see if you can put the back of your hands on the carpet
» hold for ten seconds then repeat at least five times.
