My brothers said I was brooding, but I called it thinking. It had been two days since Iâd dropped Delilah home to head to work. Iâd kissed her and reluctantly left her on her porch with no mention of the fact she hadnât given me an answer about what happened next. Iâd said Iâd give her thinking room and I was, but that didnât mean I had to like it, not one fucking bit.
It hadnât helped that when Iâd returned to the table to warn everyone to dial it back with the personal questions, Ma had looked worried. It was obvious by the way she behaved she liked Delilah, not that Iâd expected anything else, she was special, and Ma was no fool. The rest of the afternoon had gone without a hitch when Delilah had returned to the table with a look of determination on her face. If I hadnât already fallen for her, that courage would have toppled me over. Then if she hadnât gone and melted my heart as sheâd set about talking to each of my brothers, trying to learn a little about each of them. The conversation she had with Fox had been interesting as heâd tried to show her some of the signs he was using.
I was punch drunk for her and missed seeing her sweet smile. I ran a hand through my hair and stared at the full bar, tables, and booths. For a Tuesday, it was far busier than normal, and I was looking for a distraction.
Theyâd managed to organize a band from the town over that had a reputation for drawing a big crowd to play. The blues band wasnât something I was particularly a fan of, but Fox had been all for it. With the wooden floor packed with folks dancing, it appeared that Fox had been right.
Holden nudged me and nodded toward the door. I glanced over to the now-open door and nearly swallowed my tongue. Delilah was standing next to Storm, wearing a pair of jeans that looked like theyâd been painted on her. The black, spiked ankle boots add extra length to already shapely legs. Long, dark curls sat over her lush breasts, hiding most of the fitted shirt in dark red. Her lips were painted the same color as the top, that being the only makeup she wore. Storm tucked her arm through Delilahâs and tugged her through the crowd.
âWhatâs she doinâ in here?â Stone ground out.
I finally managed to tear my gaze from the siren to Stone. âWho? Delilah?â
âNo, the troublemaker clinging to your girl.â
It was a hard-fought battle not to laugh aloud at Stone, who appeared unable to take his eyes off Storm as she headed to a table where Hunter was sitting with another woman Iâd seen in town a time or two. âI wasnât aware you knew Storm that well?â
âI donât.â
The disgruntled response was too much. I laughed and slapped him on the back before he threw his middle finger up at me before going to serve the next customer.
