CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

FINALLY, KIP RELEASED her. “I thought you said there was no kissing on this boat,” Jeannie murmured. Kip looped his arm around her while he kept the other on the wheel. His heart pounded harder than hers.

“Yeah, well, I guess there’s an exception to every rule. But no more. If we keep this up, I’ll want to make love to you, and I don’t want to do it on this boat.”

Caught by surprise, she stared up at him with a soft smile forming.

“Christ, Jeannie, you’ve got to quit looking at me like that. Those green eyes of yours are killing me. Don’t you have some sunglasses you can put on?”

She laughed. “Actually, I do.”

“Can you put them on at least until my William Tell cools off? We need to get to that cove.”

“Your William Tell? Is that what you call your...” She deliberately looked down toward his crotch and grinned.

“In polite conversations, yes.”

“Why do men do that?”

“Do what?”

“Name their...”

“Cocks? I don’t know but we do.”

“Well, we sure don’t want a hot William Tell on our hands, now do we. I’ll hunt up those sunglasses of mine, and you can get us back on track.”

“Thanks.”

She started to walk away and stopped. She hated it when those damn, stupid insecurities of hers raised their heads.

“Kip?” He turned around. “Did you really mean what you just said, about...well, making love to me?”

His mouth dropped open and he stared for just a moment. Obviously, she’d been wrong. His eyes went dark, unreadable, and his mouth quirked in a funny way. And then she realized he was working overtime at trying not to laugh. Jeannie crossed her arms and looked a little embarrassed.

“You’re laughing at me, aren’t you?”

“I’m trying not to, but it’s hard, and I’ll add, like everything else on my body. Jesus, Jeannie, I don’t know how much more obvious I must make it!”

Kip sensed her embarrassment. “Come here.” He reached out and pulled her back into the crook of his arm.

“Sweetheart, you drive me nutty in more ways than I can say,” he whispered in her ear. “I want to make love to you, but I want it to be someplace special, not here on this boat just because, well you know, neither one of us can think straight. I want to wake up in the morning and find you next to me. Just you and me—no work, no schedules, nothing but us.” He held her tight and let their bodies sway with the boat movement.

“Besides,” he added, “I want to hear you utter those famous words, ‘man you’re good!’.”

Relieved, she laughed. “Thanks.”

“For what?”

“For making me laugh. I think I’ll go find those sunglasses and visit the toilet. Does it work?”

“I hope so. Yell up if it doesn’t.”

After visiting the head, Jeannie snooped around to see what the rest of the main cabin looked like. In its heyday, the yacht had been luxurious, but over time, the owner had allowed her to fall into disrepair. It saddened her to see a beautiful old gal needing a makeover.
