that “brutalization of their bodies” be added in the appropriate section or some other phrase denoting the severe, demeaning, crippling, and frequently deadly physical force that was used on Africans held as slaves;

that the commission’s recommended remedies be broader than compensation and an apology since compensation is viewed by most as money or material goods and there may be recommendations that require nonmaterial remedies, such as requirements for some proportionality in elected offices to make up for the denial of fundamental voting rights, or to hold a plebiscite for those of African descent to choose their citizenship since United States citizenship was forced upon those freed Africans.
