This is a job well done and a great way to practice early standing.

In the pages ahead you will encounter activities that will help your child to gain more strength and mobility in their trunk, hip girdle, and legs—all of which will benefit their ability to stand with healthy, well-aligned posture. And that posture is an important foundation for healthy, symmetrical movement skill development.

But first a quick recap on the biggest anticipated growth gains of your baby’s first three months:

Baby will develop strength to control lifting their head and turning it while on their back, belly, and side. Visually tracking with their eyes and turning their head in response to sounds will be their most important early exercises.

Baby will begin trying to lift their head while being held in an upright position—this should include using their arms and hands to push their weight into the chest of the person who is holding them. By extending their elbows, baby begins to prop (push up) through their hands. This will happen on the floor too.

Baby will begin shifting their gaze, their body weight, and logrolling may occur.
