Chapter Nine

James drove them to a small airport just outside of London, and they boarded a private plane that seated about twenty. Today it would carry just a crew of three and the two of them for the six-hour flight.

The cabin was hushed and outfitted with rich leather chairs and sofas, a privacy curtain, and walnut furnishings. There was a small bathroom in the rear, and a tiny kitchen neatly tucked in near the cockpit.

Rawls gestured for her to take a seat and buckle up as he took the chair opposite her. Moments later, the plane smoothly taxied to the runway and minutes after was in the air. Simple as that—no hang-ups, holdups, security, or searches.

God, what would she do all these hours alone with him? She felt grimy and sexless at the moment. But as the plane gained altitude and she inadvertently caught his eye, she saw that he didn’t see her that way at all.

“Don’t,” she whispered involuntarily.

“There is no don’t between you and me,” he said drily. “There are lies and denials, but don’t? No, don’t doesn’t exist.”

She took a deep, shuddering breath. Don’t look at him. Don’t talk to him.

Don’t suddenly raised the temperature in the cabin. Don’t immediately rubbed against her arousal. Don’t, in essence, was an invitation to do.

He knew it, too.

“I need the ladies’ room,” she murmured, at a loss.

“Don’t lock the door.”

“And where could I possibly go?”

“All the way to JFK without my penis between your legs. Don’t.”

Don’t look at his groin.

“Excuse me.” She swallowed the heat in her throat and unbuckled.

“You can strip while you’re at it.”

She caught her breath and held her tongue—and looked at his groin.

It was bulging. Big time. Get to the bathroom. Close the door.

She peered at herself in the mirror. There was nothing remotely seductive there. Her eyes were huge and hollow, her face pale, and her hair an untidy mess. Everything about her translated to wrinkled and gritty.

Obviously none of that mattered now. Nothing mattered with him except the urgency of the physical and the power of greedy, lust-driven sex.

She felt it already, because he was just beyond the door, just a step away from sex.

She splashed cold water on her face, determined not to take off the few clothes she had on. Not. She had principles.

But it was no different from sex in the suite. At twenty thousand smooth-as-silk miles in the air, who would care? It would be as if it never happened, didn’t count.

As long as she didn’t think a minute beyond it.

The door opened.

“You’re not naked.” He appeared behind her, crowding her against the granite edge of the sink. “I thought I made it clear I want you naked. All the time.”

His penis was there, stiff and throbbing against his jeans, pushing and prodding at her bottom, two layers away from the pleasure of penetration.

She couldn’t begin to define what this insane need was between them, but she couldn’t deny it. She wanted that hot, hard part of him that filled and fucked her so expertly.
