De overlevering verhaalt van een bandieten-hoofdman, Strasha-Jacob, de verschrikkelijke Jacob, genoemd, die de reizigers op de grenzen overviel en hen als slaven te Akhalzick verkocht. Zijn naam leeft nog voort in dien van het poststation.
