Chapter Forty

Sebastian gets up and pours me a drink. I don’t know what it is. I shoot it down in one gulp. It burns my throat and I protest loudly, much to Sebastian’s delight. He informs me I can have only one shot of vodka now, and as much as I want later. He’ll take care of me, he promises. I trust him explicitly.

“A few more points to get through,” he says from where he’s standing, near the window. “Do you mind if I smoke?”

“Yeah, no problem. I’ve never seen you smoke before.”

“I’m trying to quit,” he says, while he brings a cigarette to his lips and flicks open a lighter. He lights it up and blows out a puff. A cloud of smoke swirls in front of him and he squints before taking another deep drag. He moves his glass to the hand holding the cigarette and, fuck me to hell, I’ve seen nothing hotter in my life. He lets his head drop back and blows out again.

All this dark energy swirling around him and mixing with the smoke is turning my regular desperation for him into the darkest form of lust I’ve ever experienced. Sebastian makes me feel all kinds of things but seeing him like this, drink in one hand, smoke in the other and his face filled with the pleasure of his cigarette… fuck, I feel like the worst kind of sinner destined for hell.

He’s managed to steer us away from the painfully embarrassing knife/blood play talk from a few minutes ago.

Sebastian takes a seat across from where I’m sitting. He sets his glass on the coffee table and leans all the way into the sofa, his legs spread open. He takes another drag of his cigarette. He’s moved so seamlessly from gentle and considerate to dark and watchful.

“As long as we are inside this apartment,” he says, “you are my submissive, before and after I’ve called an end to the scene. I’ll use the word scene to indicate that whatever play we’ve agreed upon is about to begin. In this apartment, you’ll do as I say, without question. You are only allowed to clarify if you don’t understand. We can have conversations, eat, drink and generally have a good time, as long as you do as I say.

When I ask a question, I expect a verbal answer at all times. Your clear communication is imperative. Inside a scene, your safe word is not the only gage I will use. I’ll use your body language too. If I notice something is wrong and you’re not using your safe word, I will ask you how you’re feeling and I will need a verbal, honest answer. Do you understand, Colt?”

I nod.

“If you disobey my instructions—such as giving me a non-verbal response to a question— I’ll punish you.” His eyes harden.

I swallow. “Y-yes, Sebastian.”

“Good.” Another drag of his cigarette.

“You will not be permitted to move your body while I’m touching you, unless I say so. You may not look at me until I say so.
