Chapter 26

Commander Ferrand

Ferrand felt a buzz of satisfaction within him from the bonding he and his mates had experienced. He hadn’t seen Jovian so content or Léandre so relaxed. Léandre was easing Daniel to sit up and swing his leg over and off Ferrand’s hips.

Ferrand petted Jovian on the shoulder to rouse him. Time to clean up. Their mates needed food now too. Ferrand’s care-taking instincts were wide awake.

Jovian sat up, easing Aubrey back on her haunches, still straddling his hips. His purrs slowed, then stopped as he gave her a gentle kiss of comfort and care.

Ferrand sighed at the sight, enjoying the attentiveness Aubrey and Daniel received from their mates as much as they enjoyed it themselves.

I love my mates. They warm my heart.

Ferrand grabbed an insta-dry, quickly dipped inside Daniel’s covering to give him a thorough swipe with the fresh cloth, making Daniel catch his breath. Then Ferrand used the cloth to clean himself up. When he finished, Ferrand tossed it to Léandre, who did the same.

When Aubrey sat up on her own at Jovian’s side, Léandre tossed the cloth over to Jovian, who used the same cloth to clean himself under his shendyt.

When Jovian was done, he took the dry, scent-drenched cloth and folded it in quarters, then slowly, sensually slid the fabric inside the bodice of Aubrey’s dress. Stealth stood up, growling with menace.

Jovian calmly glanced over at Stealth, then back to Aubrey, who was watching his hand.

“Only a moment, Stealth. I’m simply putting our scent where it belongs. Next to her heart.”

Jovian slid his fingers out of her bodice as slowly as he had inserted them. Aubrey’s nostrils flared at the combined scents of her mates. She smiled a soft, secret smile. Her expression said she liked it, prompting another wave of satisfaction to flow through Ferrand.

Ferrand stood up and turned, reaching out to assist Aubrey from the cushion onto her feet. As she stood, he folded her into a hug, enjoying her feminine curves against him.

Such a brave, sweet mate. I will reward her trust with so much love and pleasure.

Daniel and Léandre stood, putting their clothes in place. When Jovian stood as well, Rahimi spoke.

“Are you ready for the Solaray refresher?”

She would activate the Solaray laser that cleaned them and took away waste, but would not remove the scents they had marked each other with.

Everyone nodded, and she activated the Solaray, which lasted but a moment. Aubrey shook her silky brown hair out into a shimmering fall and smoothed her skirt.

Rahimi gave him, Jovian, and Ferrand their bandels, chains, belts, and Rav knives, which they put back on. Daniel and Ferrand donned their capes. Everyone put on their sandals.

Suddenly Jovian growled, his eyes focused on the entryway still covered by its dual dampening fields. Raiida and Rahimi moved swiftly to him, taking in his dilated eyes and aggressive posture.
