“Come now, Akaboshi. If you struggle, I won’t be able to focus.”

“Focus on what?! Get off me! I’m here to rescue you!!”

“There’s nothing to fear. Once you’ve had a taste of my massage, you won’t desire anything else… I’ve always wanted to test my art on a divine canvas.”

“That’s not fair, Mother! I had him first! I want Mr. Bisco to see my arts!”

“I’m afraid this isn’t the same as your children’s games, Amli.”

“Both of you, shaddup! Get the hell off me!”

They were in a room that looked suspiciously like a bedchamber, deep within the temple. As a result of his careless struggles, Bisco had inhaled a considerable amount of the dense incense filling the space. It wasn’t poisoned, or else he would have been quicker to react, but it seemed to contain some kind of medicinal compound that made his eyelids feel weighty.

Upon entering the bedchamber, a half-naked Raskeni had pinned Bisco to the bed with her formidable strength. Even if he could escape her grip, her loyal warrior priestesses would ensure that he didn’t leave the room.

S-somethin’ ain’t right! Even for a joke, this has gone way too far!

“What powerful muscles,” Raskeni mused. “Like a wild beast. And your eyes, those of a hunter. They send a chill down my spine. Oh, what was wrong with me? Why did I ever serve that awful man, when I could have had a boy like you…?”

With the lightest, most tantalizing touch, Raskeni traced her long fingernails down Bisco’s neck. He was overcome with a sensation of pure, utter fear unlike anything he’d felt before.

“Waaaagh!!”

“E-erm, Mother? Don’t you think you’re getting a little—?”

“Silence, child!”

Raskeni was not her usual calm self. Right now, she was like a starving wolf eyeing her prey.

“You’re the one who’s not playing fair!” she roared. “You get to cavort around with Akaboshi and Nekoyanagi all you like, and nobody says anything because you’re just a child! Why, if I didn’t have to be your mother, I’d be out there, too!!”

“Wh-whatever is the cause of all this harsh language, Mother?!”

“Come, Akaboshi. Let me help you fill your lungs. This is part of the process. It’s most certainly not because I want to kiss you.”

“K-kiss me…?! S-stop it! Hey!”

“Now relax…”

His head and shoulders pinned in place, all Bisco could do was look up at Raskeni’s inverted smile. As she slowly brought her face closer to his, Bisco’s face contorted in fear. He was more terrified than he’d ever been in his life. Pushing his voice to the limits, he cried out.

“MILOOOO! HELP MEEEEE!!”

Ker-rash!

A black meteor came crashing through the ceiling and landed in the center of the room. The cold autumn air rushed in, dispelling the incense and putting an end to the steamy atmosphere that had built up inside.

“Tch! Who dares interfere?”

Raskeni leaped back and summoned a spear of Rust in her hand.

“Reveal yourself! We are administering to a god! This is an act of blasphemy!”

“Blasphemy…?” the intruder spat back in a menacing tone. “You dare speak of
