Toño 1 ran a hand through what little hair remained atop his head. "This is most unsettling." He looked up to Toño 2.

They were meeting in Toño's office back at JSC early the following morning. After remaining at Denny’s until late the night before, they'd taken a break to let the still-human Toño 1 get some rest and clean up. Also, the now inseparable love birds, Cervantes and Dominica—FYI, no longer Stella but now Doña Dominica Donatella y Delouse—wanted some time apart from others. The Toños shared visions of gross perversity, but also shared no interest in intervening in the couple's relationship. The woman was clearly mentally unstable, but in a manner that was harmless to others. And Cervantes was already so committed to her that any move to separate them would be futile.

"Piecing together what I know with what you know, a dark picture of our present reality does begin to take shape. This I agree with."

"But," Toño 1 insisted, "there still remains an immense gap, a significant portion of the historical record which is missing."

"I agree."

"There is a long and uninterrupted past that I experienced and that those before me lived. I would say with complete conviction that my personal timeline is intact and unaltered."

"But I," Toño 2 countered, "I have a clear memory and intact documentation proving that there is a discontinuity at the joining of my timeline and yours centered around this particular interval of time."

"I hate to press you on an issue we have covered, but are you certain that there are no other obvious inclusions or omissions in the more remote past of my timeline as opposed to the one you came from?"

"No. I have run a very detailed and exhaustive analysis on that topic. Your King Solomon was my King Solomon. Your Rome fell at the same time and in a same manner that mine did. The technological level of your third century China is identical to that in my experience. No, the only specific divergence concerns Jon Ryan's present wife, Jenna."

"Wait, you say present wife. Ignoring Jenna's situation for the moment, are you saying he had a different wife in your timeline?"

"Very much so. Two undeniable wife issues stand out as scars on history. A few years before this time, my Jon Ryan was briefly married to a woman revolting in every manner and mood. Her name was Gloria. By the way, I have researched her in this time period and find no trace of her."

"Do you suggest this Gloria does not exist in my timeline?" Toño 1 asked uncertainly.

"No. My inability to locate her jives with something Jon once told me. Prior to meeting her in Las Vegas while he was in pilot training, Gloria lived in a trailer she shared with her shrew of a mother in western Tennessee. Neither she nor her mother were ever employed, on public assistance, or applied for a driver’s license."

"There are people who live like that?" Toño 1 asked aghast.

"Apparently at least two. But back to my answer to your query.
