Finn scoffed angrily and pointed at the screen. “I find it both fascinating and insulting that the partners are okay with a French movie when they can barely understand me…and I speak English.”

“Aww, poor Finny. Remember, you don’t come with subtitles on your chest like the movie does.” I patted my fingers against that very chest, which turned into giving his pecs a good poke, testing out their firmness. When I realized what I was doing, I flicked my eyes to Finn’s. He was watching my finger intently, just as he was when I played with my hair at dinner and when I twirled my fork around my Bolognese and sucked the non-existent sauce from my thumb. “Sorry about the poking.” I wasn’t a tiny bit sorry.

I returned my hands to the safety of my popcorn bucket, but Finn’s eyes stayed fixed on me. Rationally ignoring it was sustainable for only so long. Maybe this isn’t just intense sexiness. I knew who I was. What I was. What I often looked like. A mess. “What? Why are you looking at me? Do I have something on my face? God, is it pasta sauce from dinner? Have you let me walk around like this all night?”

“No, not at all, sorry. I was just…you look great. Really pretty. Promise.” Like me, he didn’t look sorry, but his compliments and smirk appeased my fear.

By this point, we were an hour into the movie. I couldn’t remember any characters’ names or a damn thing that had happened. Hopefully there would be no test at work tomorrow. Should there be one, I would be fucked. But honestly, how was I supposed to focus on some French guy with a big nose climbing a mountain, when Finn was next to me and I could study how his quads flexed in his pants? I kept telling myself I would be fine, and an exam was very much in doubt. Hopefully.

Things in the office had been super tense over the last week. Jason finally reached his limit with Mr. Wise boob-eyeing Victoria and had security escort him from the building. He wasn’t even permitted to come tonight. Since everything had already been ready and paid for, Jason and Bernstein decided to go ahead with the evening, turning it instead into a team-building exercise. A reset, of sorts. A pop quiz seemed ill-suited.

Finn’s elbow bumped my arm, my thighs clenched together, and my thoughts returned to where they should be. My attraction to him had hit the next level since I had slid my foot between his legs. It was only two hours ago, but it felt like an eternity.

Damn, I want him to kiss me.

My eyes drifted back to his face, and his gaze locked on my mouth. “This staring is becoming a habit, Mr. Austen. At work, in the car, and now in the cinema. You’re supposed to be watching the movie, not me.”

“Hmm. That’s very hypocritical of you, Grant. You were looking at me too. And honestly, you’re much prettier and more entertaining than Big Nose.
