Mr. Clarke took a step closer to me, “As long as we get a few things straight.”

I didn’t let the sudden insecure feeling that he invoked strangle me. Instead, I raised an eyebrow in challenge. “What would those be, Mr. Clarke?”

“Matt,” he drew closer. “You’re going to call me Matt. It's a whole lot easier to scream than Mr. Clarke.”

I didn’t restrain the snort of disbelief, I doubted I would really get anything out of this. This was to get him out of my system at best.

His eyes narrowed, and it was to the point that there was little distance between us. I was forced to look up at him to see his face, a power move that I was sure he revealed in. “You’re not the boss here,” it came out of him as a growl that I felt. “You don’t get to tell me what to do in here.”
