Chapter 15

Kipexo slipped out of bed the next morning and tidied up the kitchen, replacing the chairs, coiling the ropes, and washing the shaft they’d used the night before. He put the shaft and bottle of lubricant in the bathroom and crawled back into bed before Ethan woke. He buried his nose in the boy’s hair and hummed with pleasure at his scent. His cock began to swell, and he closed his eyes, imagining all the ways he could make Ethan gasp and moan. He couldn’t wait to try them all.

Ethan roused with a sharp gasp and looked all around before his eyes settled on Kipexo.

“Good morning,” said the Commander.

Ethan put his arms around Kipexo’s neck and held on tight.

“What’s wrong?”

I dreamt I was still with the one before you. The other master.

Kipexo stiffened. “Does this dream happen often?”

Only twice.

“I wish I knew who she was. I would make her pay for what she’s done.”

It doesn’t matter. I wake up happy to be with you instead.

A warm swell of pride filled Kipexo’s chest, and he smiled. Ethan was happy, and this in turn made him happy. Never before had another creature’s well-being been so important to him, except perhaps for Dex, but that was different. Dex was practically a squadmate. Ethan was…

Ethan was his denmate.

Kipexo hadn’t thought of it like that before, but there was no other way to describe it. Ethan was more than a servant, and a servant, by definition, was already family. A denmate was the next logical step. At this sudden revelation, Kipexo trilled, leaned in, and nuzzled Ethan’s throat in a display of affection he’d never once felt the urge to make with another. As he did, he realized there was something he had to do. Ethan had placed great trust in him already, and it was his turn to do that same. He only hoped it wouldn’t change the boy’s opinion of him.

Kipexo leaned up on an arm and stared down at Ethan.

What’s wrong?

He didn’t know how to start, so he just launched into the tale. “Several months ago, I was assigned to a starship called the Saptrigma,” he said, trying his best to stick to straight facts and not give away how miserable and angry he felt inside. “Me and three squads were sent to investigate an asteroid on our outer border. Intel said a team of Lifreet, our most dangerous enemy, had set up a surveillance base on its surface. We were to storm it and eradicate all Lifreet we found.

“I felt something was wrong the moment we landed. Our scans showed considerable interference, more than necessary for a simple surveillance base. I figured the Lifreet had gotten wise to the power of our instruments and amped up their defenses. We crossed over a ridge and looked down into the valley where the base was supposed to be, but there was nothing there. I tried to comm command back on the Saptrigma for orders, but nothing could get through the interference. I made the call to continue down the ridge and inspect the valley more closely.
