The Algonquin Hotel on Forty-Fourth Street in New York City was headquarters to the legendary “Round Table,” whose members included the likes of Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, George S. Kaufman, and Harpo Marx. They would gather for lunch, sip cocktails, exchange barbs, stories, anecdotes, and what have you—Prohibition be damned. In this liquid homage, the brawny shoulders of rye keep the sweetness of pineapple in check—and vice-versa.
1½ ounces Rye Whiskey
¾ ounce Dry Vermouth
¾ ounce Pineapple Juice
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with cracked ice. Stir briskly, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
